The 135th Canton Fair closed on 5 May in Guangzhou, with a total of 246,000 overseas buyers from 215 countries and regions attending the fair offline, an increase of 24.5% over the previous session, a record high.
This year's Canton Fair hosted 160,000 buyers from cooperating countries under the Belt and Road Initiative, an increase of 25.1% over the previous session and 50,000 buyers from Europe and America, an increase of 10.7% over the previous session. 226 multinational headline enterprises including Wal-Mart of the United States, Auchan of France, Tesco of the United Kingdom, Metro of Germany, Ikea of Sweden, Koppel of Mexico and Seabird of Japan participated in the fair offline. This year's Canton Fair achieved an export turnover of 24.7 billion U.S. dollars offline, and 3.03 billion U.S. dollars through the online platform, seeing an increase of 10.7% and 33.1% respectively compared with the previous session.
A total of 680 enterprises from 50 countries and regions participated in the import exhibition of the Canton Fair this year, of which 64% were exhibitors from the cooperating countries under the Belt and Road Initiative. After the closure of this year's Canton Fair offline exhibition, the online platform will continue to operate regularly, while a series of accurate trade docking and themed industrial activities will be organized online. The 136th Canton Fair will be held in three phases in Guangzhou from 15 October to 4 November this year, and German enterprises and business associations are welcome to participate in it.
China Import and Export Fair (the Canton Fair) was founded in the spring of 1957 and is held in Guangzhou every spring and autumn. It is jointly hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the People's Government of Guangdong Province, and organized by the China Foreign Trade Centre, and is recognized as the top fair of China.
