Main Features Regarding the 2025 China International Fair for Trade in Services

With the joint efforts and support of all parties, the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) was successfully held in Beijing from September 10 to 14. The 2025 CIFTIS adheres to the principle of "Global Service, Shared Prosperity". The Global Trade in Services Summit and 169 business promotion events were held with an exhibition area of over 100,000, attracting 85 countries and international organizations to host exhibitions and conferences. The CIFTIS has effectively played the role as a platform for expanding opening up, deepening cooperation and pioreering innovation.

Firstly, convey a strong message of expanding opening up and enhance confidence in win-win cooperation.

Chinese President XI Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the 2025 CIFTIS, pointing out that China will remain firmly committed to expanding high-standard opening up, actively align with international high-standard economic and trade rules, and promote high-quality development of trade in services. The Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang attended the Global Trade in Services Summit and delivered a keynote speech. It is expressed that China is willing to work with all countries to deepen the opening up and cooperation in service trade and promote international trade and economic growth. Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister of Australia, Dina Boluarte, then-President of Peru, and Johanna Hill, Deputy Director-General of the World Trade Organization, delivered video messages to this year’s CIFTIS. Pedro Manuel Moreno, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, attended the Global Service Trade Summit on site and delivered a speech, expressing that the conference will continue to maintain close cooperation with China to jointly promote the global service trade and sustainable development agenda. Bai Bowen, chairman of Morgan Asset Management Global, shared the development experience of service trade and investment with China. About 800 representatives from over 30 countries and international organizations attended CIFTIS on site.

Secondly, build an international platform to promote practical cooperation in the field of trade in services.

 Focused on various professional fields of service trade with diverse thematic exhibitions and nine special topics, the 2025 CIFTIS attrated 64 countries including Australia and Germany, and 21 international organizations including the World Intellectual Property Organization. Australia, the guest country of honor, has formed its largest exhibition delegation since participating in this year’s CIFTIS. In addition, The first overseas branch event of the CIFTIS was held in Melbourne. Nearly 2,000 enterprises participated in the exhibition on site. The internationalization rate exceeds 20%, with over 480 Fortune 500 companies and industry leading enterprises participating offline and approximately 5,600 enterprises participating online.

Thirdly, focus on cutting-edge hot fields and showcase the latest achievements in service trade.

During the 2025 CIFTIS, over 260 important guests attended the event and actively participated in exchanges and discussions. The Ministry of Commerce of China released the Report on the Development of China's Service Trade 2024 and Support Beijing in taking the lead in piloting the work plan of the World Trade Organization (E-commerce Agreement). The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce of China, launched the Service Trade Data Statistics and Development Policy Guidelines, providing support for more developing economies to develop trade in services. 37 provincial-level administrative regions as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan in China all participated in CIFTIS, showcasing the regional development experience and achievements of China's service trade. Among them, Anhui Province, the guest province of honor, focused on showcasing the latest achievements in local scientific and technological innovation and the opening up of the service industry. Hainan highlighted the policy advantages of the free trade port. Beijing summarized and gathered nearly 200 service trade cases with high commercial value and replicability.

Fourthly, promote the synergy between trade, investment and consumption, strengthen the negotiation and transaction functions of exhibitions.

The 2025 CIFTIS received over 280,000 visitors, including 116,000 professional visitors, which increased 12% compared to the previous session. More than 900 achievements were reached during the conference period, with a planned execution amount of 18.6 billion US dollars for one year, expanding into service trade sectors such as construction, information technology, and finance to invigorate service investment vitality. 45 integrated activities of business, tourism, culture, sports and health were also organized, supported by 11 business investigation routes and a series of night consumption event of the "Exhibition Town" in Shougang Park, while coupled with theme activities to stimulate the potential of service consumption.

Looking ahead, we expect to continue to closely cooperate with relevant countries, regions and international organizations to better leverage the platform role of the CIFTIS and jointly promote the opening up, cooperation and prosperity of global trade in services.
